I struggle with names and spellings as well. Over the years I have found multiple spellings for many of the techniques in various videos and books. I have also noticed that it is common for videos to demonstrate techniques and not provide any names at all. It would be awesome if The Dragon Institute would be the Go-To place to provide images of each technique with their respective names, sort of like a pictorial glossary. I do realize that this would probably be a mammoth undertaking, however, it would be so very much appreciated! 🙂

    Hello All,

I have an idea! Why don’t we as a collective Wing Chun Brother/Sisterhood develop our own Dragon Institute glossary of the said comment?

We put it together and have Sifu and his higher students go through and double check with their sources available to them?

Therefore , we work together and not place the load onto the Dragon Institute.

    Just an idea

    Thank you for reading

The technique names are outlined with photos in Sifu’s book/student manual “The little idea”.

I believe there’s a few different ways that it can be said and spelled I originally was taught “Goang Sao” when I first came to the Dragon. But I’ve seen it evolve as “Gan Sao”.

(I still say “Goang Sao” lol)

I would agree that it’s good to know the best terminology, but I would say it’s probably more important to know the posture.

But as suggested in one of the other comments, just asking Sifu will give you the best answer.

Hope you’re all having a great day!

Sifu’s book, “The Little Idea” is a great resource for most questions you will have.
